Not only was this my last weekend in town for a long time, but I did it up right by attending not one, but TWO Christmas parties!
Shareen and Ash so kindly invited me to their squadron party and once there I found out that she was surprising a couple of spouses of the deployed with big, beautiful bouquets of flowers! They were so gorgeous and I am sad that I only got to enjoy mine for 2 days! (I passed it along to my 2nd Christmas party so Jessica could enjoy it for me)
They apparently always do a ton of giveaways at these sort of parties (I say apparently because this is my first holiday party with the military) and I happened to win the very first prize! It was the perfect present for me too. I got a terabyte external hard drive! For those of you who are not a nerd that photography kind of forces me to be, that is the perfect present for me because that is how I store the thousands of pictures that I take all the time! I always need external hard drives! In fact, I’ve been getting kind of desperate for one!
So that was Friday night and then last night I went to the Jess’s “ugly sweater” Christmas party. For those of you who have never heard of this, to attend this party you have to wear an ugly sweater, and preferably it is Christmas themed. Think back to elementary school and how your teachers always wore those amazing holiday cardigans or the sweaters that had flashing lights on them…that’s what we were going for people. The more glitter, the better.
We had some great ones! Jesse, Jessica’s husband, was my favorite. Jessica picked it up for him last minute at the Ramstein thrift store! What a gold mine!
Even with all the stress of James leaving and getting everything ready to leave myself, I couldn’t have asked for a better goodbye weekend. It was jam packed full of friends and those that have become my military family! I am going to miss them all so much while I’m home!
