I am part of an amazing group on Facebook called An American Photographer In Germany. It’s made up of some of the professionals in the area as well as all of us self proclaimed photographers who are itching to learn more. This group has been the source for some great conversations and a huge resource for information on anything “photography” related.

One thing that I have just recently gotten into is their “challenge of the week”. I haven’t participated too much but have wanted to more recently. This week the theme was b&w portraits and as cute as I think James is, I get tired of taking his picture all the time. He is always my model so I thought it would be fun to mix it up.

I just mentioned this on the challenge post and a girl named Jennifer volunteered herself and her baby! She came over yesterday and we just played around with our cameras and got to know each other. She just recently got here and even more recently got into photography so I was happy to help her out in any way I could.

We went for a walk around my neighborhood (which is really just a lot of farm land) and found a cool walking path. I snapped a couple of pictures and even though I didn’t win this week’s challenge, I was so happy to have made a new friend and share a picture of her and the baby she and her husband refer to as “short man”.

I ended up submitting this one as my black and white photo for the challenge:

…but I really liked this one as well!
