I had such a great time wandering around Forsyth park on Saturday. I went out to enjoy all the cool artwork that SCAD students were creating right in front of about a thousand sets of eyes all afternoon! It’s called the Sidewalk Arts Festival, and it’s an annual competition between high school and college students that is voted on by the public! artwork that SCAD students were creating right in front of about a thousand sets of eyes all afternoon! A ton of people showed up to see the chalk masterpieces and I, along with some friends, went to check out the scene!

I loathed loved being around college students again, and since SCAD is primarily artists, there was plenty of interesting people to stare at when your eyes were not glued to the sidewalk. With the mass wall of people trying to see every square of sidewalk, I was able to stand still long enough to get some great pictures of the art work.

There was even a guy walking around with a “Free Hugs” sign. He seemed harmless enough (that’s what you always think, right?!), but Heather gave him a hug and he didn’t shank her!

I used to love sitting outside drawing nonsense on the sidewalk but I have a pinky toe’s worth of talent next to all of these kids. They’re work was phenomenal! There was something for everyone. I noticed a couple of Disney movie themes, quotes and sayings, animals, portraits, etc. It was really entertaining!

I didn’t stick around for the winners to be announced but it really could have been any one of them. I’m so glad I take pictures, because I got home and knew I wanted to share it all in a blog post, and can you imagine trying to describe some of these pieces?!

Chalking is messy work! I didn’t get to see all of the entrees but I am happy that I got to capture some of their diligent efforts so I can share it with you! And of course, one of my favorites was the owl…
