Although I’ve missed out on it the last couple of years that I’ve been gone, there is always a place in my heart for the memories made at the local corn maze. It’s like a craving that I get this time of year! I love the fall so much and since there aren’t many trees here that change and it’s been super warm, the corn maze is one of the only things that makes me feel like Summer is really over.
This past weekend my friend Barbee came in town and we along with two of our other friends decided we needed to go!
What were the chances that with all this warm weather that it would be COLD the night we chose to go out there!?! We bundled up at my house because it’s only about 10 minutes away and then carpooled out to Shallowater. You can see the bright lights about a mile out, I’d say. It’s a pretty happenin’ place! There were two busses there from Texas Tech bringing students out to enjoy the maze.
So the maze works like this:
You pay $8 for a ticket inside and then you choose to do it on your own or you can pick a clue map from whatever category you feel you will be the best at. We wanted T.V. but it seems that the Tech students were good at that one too because they were GONE…so we went with sports and bible trivia. (We decided if we were dumb on one subject we could rely on knowing the other.)
Barbee is terrific with maps, so she pretty much guided us through the maze. We managed to find a couple of the markers though and then we would huddle around the flashlight we were smart enough to bring and try to guess the right direction to go.
The maze is different every year and without Barbee it probably would have taken us hours but we made it out in record time! (we were cold.)
If you haven’t yet, GO CHECK IT OUT!!
I really love the pics in this post.
