I kind of felt like I was a character in the Lion King today.
This morning I went to visit my friend Shawn and his wife in the hospital where she just had an incredibly handsome little boy. Paxton joined this world last night and he is just the most precious thing you can imagine.
This post is going without pictures because I have none! I have literally not taken any pictures today…a rare occasion. I am planning on taking a couple of super cute pictures of Paxton in his OWL themed room sometime soon so I will share him with the internets then!
So here’s the downer…
I also attended a funeral today.
My mom’s favorite patient died on my birthday (Friday) and Deb and I went with her to the funeral so she didn’t have to go alone. 🙁 She is so incredibly close to her patients. She sees them way more than she sees us. My mom is so strong. She has taken care of this man for a long long time and seen him twice a day for the last while. I would go as far as to say that this death will probably affect her more than me leaving for Germany will.
She has grown extremely close to his family as well. His wife, Kaye, knows us by name, and today she got to put a face to all the stories she hears about us all the time. She even gave us wedding presents. Such a sweet lady. I really hope she stays in touch with my mom. I think they will both benefit from that.
It’s just kind of ironic that in the first couple of days of the year when everyone is making resolutions and seems to have an “in with the new” attitude, that I would experience both extremes of life and death in one day.
The circle of life….God knows what he is doing and I don’t question him in the least, but it’s just something to think about.
